GENERAL POLICIES
Grades will be based on the following three categories:
In compliance with the Disabilities Act, students needing special accommodations may contact the instructor for alternative arrangements.
Citizenship Grade:
Please refer to the Timberline citizenship rubric aligned to the Grizzly Guide. As a science department we will adhere to the rubric to determine the citizenship grade. This is a way to communicate with parents and students on their classroom disposition.
Assessment Retakes:
These will take place before or after school. If you want to retake an assessment, or if you were absent, I require you to do tier 1 work to make sure you are ready. If it is longer than five school days after an assessment, tier 1 and tier 2 work is required. After 10 school days all 3 levels of the tier work will be required before fixing the assessment. You will be having a conversation with your teacher to test your understanding of the material. There is no point penalty for retakes. Please be prepared, and don't waste both of our time.
Composition Notebooks: These will be used for all of the work that takes place in class. Notes, assignments, experiments, data and observations will be recorded and kept in this notebook. Please make sure that you bring the notebook each day and do not lose it. Towards the end of the term there may be a notebook check where your notebook will be graded. This grade would be part of the 10% assignment grade.
Late for class: The TMS tardy policy will be followed. You will be tardy if you are not where your teacher instructs you to be when the bell rings. I usually have late students come before or after school to take the quiz we took that day.
Absences: The easiest way to fail this class is to not be here. Be here. You are responsible to get any missed notes and work. There will be no extra accommodations made for absences. Any assessments missed will need to be taken before or after school with the required tier work.
In-class Technology: You will be required to follow all district, school, and class computer use agreements. If you fail to follow the rules, you will be required to do the work out of class, or complete the assignment without the use of computers.
Supplies: I expect you to attend class each day ready and prepared. To be prepared for class, you should have all of the following each day in class.
-Composition Notebook -Pen or Pencil -Earbuds (to connect to chromebooks)
